Teacher Bio

As a trained clarinetist and educator, Catelyn Gentry has always wanted to fill her life with music. She worked hard from a young age to develop a unique sound and teaching style. She trained with fellow clarinetists Jaren Hinckley and Kim Ellis, as well as learned from leaders of great band programs such as Don Peterson, Scott Deppe, and Jason Anderson. From Jason she developed a love for saxophone and made first chair tenor sax in the ATSSB All-State Jazz Band in 2010. Alto and Tenor sax are skills that she has maintained and enjoyed teaching over the years. She currently subs in several local orchestras, plays professionally as a contract clarinetist and teaches lessons out of her home in Lehi. UT.

Catelyn earned her bachelor's degree in clarinet performance from Brigham Young University after working in the BYU Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra, and Chamber Orchestra during her time there.
